目前周末还剩下最后一个时间段，正在组建小学新班，近期开课，前期将进行语音矫正课程。

上周六，初、高中英语素养提高班的第1期课程顺利结课。仅仅10次课，通过和学生们一起分析大量的原版时事材料，进行高密度的阅读、写作训练，明显感觉学生们提高了2种能力：
1）对大篇幅原版报纸期刊的理解能力[得意][得意]
   未被改写过的、具有一定思想深度的文章中，经常出现看似简单的句子。句中明明没有生词，但是就是不明白它表达了什么意思。并且，在学校，学生们读惯了短篇幅的阅读题，看到几千字的文章自然头大。
   这次带领他们啃下一篇3-4千字的原版文章，并且达到看透的程度，对学生们是个很大的挑战。
2）跳出应试范文写作框框，写出长篇幅、有内容、有深度的牛文章[鼓掌][鼓掌]
   第一次上课的时候，让学生们试着写一篇题为＂我的偶像＂的英语文章，题材、字数不限。经过一段长时间的纠结和挣扎，学生们交上的文章风格、字数如出一辙。100字左右，或励志或温馨、耳熟能详的小故事，有的描述了妈妈操持家务的辛苦，有的赞扬了李敏镐的帅气与努力。文章缺少逻辑性、流畅性、思想深度和我期待的小创意。有的文章甚至需要作者本人亲自逐句翻译，才能知道他想表达了什么意思。。。孩子们用现有的语法词汇，翻译出了心中隐隐发亮的汉语小作文。[擦汗][擦汗]
   好在学生们比较认真，10次课时间一步步跟着我的步伐，一点点铺垫。最后两节课，在没有范文，没有老师帮写，没有电子产品可查阅的情况下，四个学生面对同一个人物、同一个话题，写出了四篇角度完全不同的长篇文章，实属不易。其中两个丫头竟然写出了600字的作文，并且逻辑严谨，内容充实、成熟、有深度。比百度百科生动、比伤秋悲春的散文理性，把自己的思考融入了文章每一个部分。
   最后成文的水平甚至好于很多大学英语专业学生的文章。而这种风格，思想性的文章，也恰恰符合留学海外对学生论文写作的要求。[强][强]

哎呀，突然好开心，10节课的时间让学生有了这么大的变化，回忆起来都是满满的成就感[憨笑][憨笑]

   Most of us have formed a picture of the future. We sometimes imagine there will be no diseases or inequities. Besides, everyone there can have access to all the opportunities and they are in with a chance to achieve their full potential. Now Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, who became a father recently, showed his determination to do this part with many others to make this reality in his letter to his kid.

   Instead of being a Utopian dreamer, Zuckerberg is a programming prodigy who has the will and ability to create a wonderland with his own hands. By now, he has made many programs. When he was only a high school student, he built Zucknet and Synapse Media Player. Zucknet is even considered to be the father of online talking programs. Not only Zucknet, but also Synapse Media Player made such success. After inventing Synapse Media Player, many big companies such as Microsoft invited him to join the company. But he still chose to study in Harvard University. In addition to his ability, he has a strong power for action. When the idea of setting up Facebook struck him, it took him only about one week to realize it. As he said in the letter to his daughter, many issues are too important to wait until we are older to begin with. He has already begun some projects that were mentioned in the letter. For example, he has started to build personalize learning tools over the internet to give all children a better education and more equal opportunities. And the results are promising. This is only a small part of what he has done. With such incredible ability and strong power for action, we believe he will keep his words and spare no efforts to make our world closer to our imagination.

   In the letter, he once mentioned that “if you have an unhealthy childhood, it’s difficult to reach your full potential.” He holds the view that if a man fails, there may be some hidden reasons. Apart from this, he said that the internet can be a lifeline for the majority of people in the world. It’s not just for entertainment or communication, as many people might think. These details show another thing which can give us more confidence on him----his long view. Let’s take an example. Different from other entrepreneurs, Zuckerberg encouraged original programs. He aims to help people understand the world better. So he wishes his next generation can surpass them to change the world. To focus on doing this, Facebook accepted 2 billion dollars that Microsoft invested to buy Facebook’s advertisements. Only in this way, could Facebook avoid committing to sell advertisements. After knowing these, personally speaking, I’m sure he will lead us to solve the many more challenges we will face on our way to the better world.

   Now Zuckerberg has devoted much money to achieve the goal. What’s more, he said he would give 99% of his Facebook shares—currently about $45 billion—during his life to advance this mission. So what will happen in the future? Let‘s wait and see. Maybe we are able to see compounding benefits, even the fancy world.

    How to advance human potential and promote equality?

    How to make the world a better place to live in?

    Many of us have thought about these questions, but few took measures to begin this work. However, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, is challenging and making every effort to help solve these problems now.

    We may wonder why he has the courage to begin this hard and long-term work, and the first thing we might think of is profit.

    Talking about this, Zuckerberg's opinions on fortune may be different from ours. He is keen on charities. At the age of 22, he joined "The Giving Pledge", an activity which was initiated by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, as well as many other celebrities. Besides, on December 2015,Zuckerberg announced that he would give 99% of his Facebook shares during his life in order to advance his mission.

    Above all, Zuckerberg tried to avoid the temptation of money, even when facing difficulties. During the early stage, Yahoo offered acquisition to Facebook. The news brought shock into his company, especially Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan. As Chan stated, when she heard the news, she was a little infirm. All these things brought pressure to Zuckerberg. The day before the news was reported, Chan had a conversation with Zuckerberg. She was shocked when she heard Zuckerberg said that he wouldn't sell Facebook. The decision made her understood that Zuckerberg had considered Facebook as his career, as his "child". Finally, Chan reached an agreement with Zuckerberg that they wouldn't sell their "child", because money was far less important than Facebook itself. After a long time of considering and reflecting, Zuckerberg firmly refused the purchase of Yahoo and kept Facebook. Thanks to his right decision and unbreakable determination, Facebook has become a crucial website for connecting the world better.   

Not just his attitude to fortune, his angle of fixing problems has strengthened his courage and brought him success as well.

    Zuckerberg knows that what should be eager to start, and what should be finished step by step. In his opinion, there are so many kinds of charity, which need a great many resources to start now, such as building new technology and curing diseases. So he can't wait, and he wants to begin these work at a young age to see compounding benefits: eliminating poverty and hunger, providing everyone with basic healthcare, building inclusive and welcoming communities...

    However, his attitude to his investments of the mission is different. In the letter to his daughter, he mentions his unique mission: advancing human potential and promoting equality, which is about pushing the boundaries on how great a human life can be and making sure everyone has access to these opportunities--regardless of the nation, families or circumstances they are born into. And he and his wife will invest on these problems. "We must make long term investments over 25, 50 or even 100 years. The greatest challenges require very long time horizons." And he says that "Our society has an obligation to invest now to improve the lives of all those coming into the world, not those already working here."It is his outstanding thoughts that made Zuckerberg a more successful man.

    Compared to other world-famous entrepreneurs, Mark Zuckerberg's attitude to fortune and ways of fixing problems are different and remarkable. Thanks to Zuckerberg, our world is becoming a better place for our and next generation.

   Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, is not only a successful entrepreneur who makes the whole world communite on the same platform, but a man filled with sense of social responsibility as well. He makes a great many contributions to build a better world.

On the one hand, he contributes a lot for the world peace. To prevent terrorism spreading on the Internet, he cuts out a lot of terroristic information on Facebook and discusses with German president on how to fight against terrorism. Though receiving a great many threatening-letters by lsis, the biggest terrorism organization, he still insist on doing his best to make the world more peaceful.

   On the other hand, he works a lot to shorten the gap between the rich and the poor. What he will do first is to give 99％ of his Facebook's shares--currently about $45 billion, during his life to help the people in poor and developing countries enjoy the same modern, convenient and healthy lives like others. However, unlike other charitarians, he doesn't just give his wealth, but makes his own plans, including the instruction of the social security system, personalized learning, strong communities and many others. In addition, as a man benefits a lot from the Internet, he knows how important it is to let every citizen on the globe use the Internet. However, many poor people haven’t yet use the Internet. As a result, he will pay much attention to the construction of the Internet which can be a sort of catalyst to save much money and quicken this process. For example, people can see a doctor online instead of waiting for a hospital to be built and children can have classes online instead of waiting for a school to be founded.

   Zuckerberg has realized that it wouldn't be easy to do so. It will take a lot of money and time and possibly make only little progress. Regardless of what others might think, he cares only about how to make the world a better place. Because of the strong community behind him, the support of his family, colleagues and many strangers, he will insist on doing what he want, working alongside other responsible people to make the world a better place for the next generation.
